John Gist, [who married Elizabeth Fisher], is mentioned in "Bugger Saga," a book of Civil War stories set in Lawrence Co, TN and Lauderdale Co, AL. John was tortured and killed by robbers, as were Levi & James Gist [sons of Joseph Gist and Sinia Hollis], and in the book, it was said that John Gist was *cousin* to Levi & James.
