Lydia was born on 29 FEB 1844 in Montgomery, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Peter Trumbauer and Mary Boyer.

She died on 14 MAR 1925 in Lomita, California.

Her husband was Edward Peter Basse, who she married on 16 SEP 1865 in Waterloo, Iowa. Their three known children were Ida Hellena (1867-1942), Charlotte Mary (1866-1954) and Dora Matilda (1869-1937).

TRUMBAUER-TRUMBOWER

Lydia's great great grandfather Andreas Trumbauer (German spelling) or Andrew Trumbower (English spelling) first appears in the area of Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the early 1700's. Her great grandparents Henry and Elizabeth Trumbower lived in Bucks County, Richland twsp, Penna. They had eight sons and 2 daughters. Her grandparents, John and Maria Magdalene Trumbower moved to Upper Hanover Twsp., Montgomery County, Penna. in about 1803 where her father Peter Trumbauer was born, May 12, l8l6. He had 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Peter married Sept. 10, 1837 to Miss Mary Boyer of Spinnersville, Bucks County, Penna. and then bought his father's farm. They had 5 sons and 4 daughters. In the spring of 1865 with their nine children moved to Iowa and bought a farm four miles northwest of Jesup in Blackhawk County where they lived until 1882 when they sold that farm and bought another one three miles southeast of Jesup where they remained until the death of Mary Boyer Trumbauer which occured Jan 23, l897« Peter sold his farm and made his home with his daughter iiary Ann Freed and spent part of the time with his other children. In the spring of 1900 he left Jesup for a visit with his daughter, Lydia Basse at Beloit, Kansas, at which place he took sick with the grippe, and after 4 days he died on January 12, 1901. He was buried at Jesup, Iowa.
