John was born on 26 AUG 1662 in Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the son of George Abbott Jr and Sarah Ingalls or Farnum.
He died on 24 MAR 1718 in Watertown, Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts.
His wife was Jemima Johnson, who he married on ABT 1698. The place has not been found. Their five known children were Jemima (1699-1776), Capt. John (1701-1782), Mary (c1704-1740), Sarah (1707-?) and Hannah (1710-1733).

His descendants include from Erie County, N.Y. Rev. Orrin Abbott, Col. George Abbott, M.D., George Burwell Abbott, Chauncey Abbott, and Capt. Abram Abbott.
The son of GEORGE JR. & SARAH (FARNUM) ABBOTT, John was on the list of house-holders in Andover prior to 1681. At his father's death in 1689, he recieved the homestead, orchard & house (excluding the part reserved for his mother), half of the meadow, two acres of land in Newfield, 3/4 acre in "Cochichawiche Field", 4 pounds worth of livestock, and moveable which he already possessed. He was a carpenter and mill-wright and lived at the south end of Andover.
About 1696, he removed to Sudbury, Mass. and he married JEMIMA JOHNSON in Watertown, Mass. in 1697. Their five known children were born in Sudbury.
In 1712, the family moved to Watertown, Mass. where he died at age 58. His widow married John Beeks
