Samuel Graves, Sr. deeded 262 acres of land to John in 1822 (Bk. 17, p. 356) which was witnessed by Mark and Anney Bolling. Mark Bolling was the brother of Talitha who married Samuel, Jr. It is said that John could walk 1ΒΌ miles from his house to the village of Seagrove where he sometimes served as a magistrate.
